Become a Beta Reader

What is a Beta Reader & Why They Matter to Me
If you're here, it means you're interested in becoming a beta reader—thank you! I want to take a moment to explain just how important beta readers are to my writing process and why your feedback truly matters.

What is a Beta Reader? A beta reader is someone who gets an early look at my novel before it goes through its final revisions. Think of it like test-driving a car before it hits the market. You get to experience the story before anyone else, and in return, you provide me with valuable insight about what’s working, what isn’t, and what could be even better.

Beta readers aren’t editors; you don’t have to worry about catching typos or grammatical errors (though if you spot any, I won’t mind a heads-up!). Instead, you’re here to let me know how the story makes you feel. Did you love the characters? Was the pacing just right, or did it slow down in places? Did anything confuse you? Were there moments that made you laugh, cry, or want to throw your e-reader across the room? I need to know all of it.

Beta Readers are Essential for an Indie Writer

As an indie author, I don’t have a big publishing house guiding my every move—I have you. Your feedback helps me refine my story before it reaches my ARC team and, ultimately, the general public. Every book I write is for my readers, and I want to make sure it’s the best it can be before release day. Your honest thoughts help shape the final version of my book, making it stronger, sharper, and even more compelling.

What I Expect from My Beta Readers

When you sign up to beta read, you’re not just getting early access to a new book, you’re becoming part of my creative process.

Here’s what I ask of you:
Read the book within the given timeframe. Since I’m working on a deadline, I need feedback within a set period (usually about two weeks).

Be honest but constructive. If something isn’t working, tell me! But also, if you love a particular scene or character, I want to hear that too.

Answer a few key questions. I’ll provide a short list of questions to help guide your feedback, but feel free to add any thoughts beyond that.

Keep things confidential. This is an early version of the book, so I ask that you don’t share spoilers or discuss it publicly until the official release.

Why Your Feedback Matters

I don’t write in a vacuum. Every story I create is meant to be read, to connect with readers, and to leave an impact. But before that can happen, I need fresh eyes—your eyes—to help me see the book from a different perspective. Your feedback isn’t just helpful; it’s invaluable. You help me make sure my characters feel real, my plot makes sense, and my story resonates the way I intend it to.

Thank You

If you decide to be a beta reader, know that I appreciate you more than words can say. You’re giving me your time, your thoughts, and your honesty, and that means the world to me.

You’re not just a reader—you’re a crucial part of my writing journey. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me bring my stories to life in the best way possible.

I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
